We know website design and digital marketing can be pretty confusing, but it doesn’t have to be! Browse our frequently asked questions to learn more about the ins and outs of all that we do here at Kris Chislett Design. Once you get bored of reading, go ahead and give us a call. We’re happy to answer any questions you may have!
Our prices depend on a lot of factors, so it’s impossible to say in one sentence. Avoid ANY web company who can answer this question without a long talk, or who (even worse) has preset pricing.
Yes … we’ve seen those ads on the side of the road, too. Be wary of anyone who says they’ll build you a website for $500 (or for a small amount up front and a monthly recurring fee). 50% of the time they’ll take your money and run. The other 50%, they’ll ask you for a few pages of text, throw it into a generic template …and that’s it. You won’t have custom content, it won’t be built to convert visitors to leads, your site won’t be optimized for Google … and it will look like a $500 website.
The only other cost is hosting your website. Websites are “hosted” (stored), on special computers called servers. Hosting is an unavoidable expense with websites, and we aim to take away the headache of hosting by taking care of it for our clients.
You can … but we don’t recommend it. All our hosting plans come with super-fast SSD hosting, free backups, updates, security, spam protection, and if anything ever goes wrong, we fix it for free.
We work with a broad range of companies (small start-ups, large corporations, B2B, B2C, wineries, associations and more) across many industries. Small to medium businesses are our bread and butter.
Our “standard” website builds take approximately 30-45 days. Larger sites are 45-60 days. Our e-Commerce and more involved sites take a little longer and are quoted by project.
Good question! You will be working closely with the owner of our company, Kris, no matter the size of your project.
We build all of our websites on a platform called WordPress.
Yes. We include copy writing and editing in all of our proposals.
YES! Everything we build will be 100% owned by you. Most of our clients stay with us for the life of the website. Our team is just irresistible that way!
No, not really 🙂
We work with a broad range of companies (small start-ups, large corporations, B2B, B2C, wineries, associations and more) across many industries. Small to medium businesses are our bread and butter.
Businesses benefit from our services in a number of ways. The most common and sought after results include increased awareness, leads, customers, and website traffic.
We sure can! Our expertise in social media allows us to not only find your target audience, but drive them to your website or storefront.
Your accounts are managed/monitored on a DAILY basis with post frequency based on your pricing plan.
Though an advertising budget is not needed, it is highly suggested. An advertising budget allows us to quickly leverage the data that Facebook and other social platforms have on your target audience, reach thousands of people, grow your following, and dramatically increase your awareness and sales.
If you are ready to get started, contact us. One of our sales consultants will help you identify the best plan of action and develop a proposal for you. Upon your approval, we will send you a contract and get your campaign started.
Our content is tailored to your target audience and your unique business. Our team creates custom images for your brand and posts content that either informs, entertains, or inspires your target customer.
We will learn about your business by having you answer a short questionnaire. Upon completion, we will do more research and develop a strategy that is specific to your business.
No, you do not have to provide us with content. However, if you have content, we are happy to use it, and we strongly encourage clients to send as much content as they feel necessary.
We offer initial contract terms of 3 months. After the initial contract term is complete, your account will be serviced on a month-to-month basis.
Yes, we will be monitoring your advertising campaigns daily. If ads are not performing well, we will pause them and tweak your campaign. Any budget left at the end of the month will roll into the next month.
Yes, we will be monitoring the pages for comments, messages, and reviews. If we know the answer to the question or comment, we would respond accordingly. If we do not know the answer, we will direct the question to you and notify you via email/phone call.
SEO is typically a more long-term game and involves the correct set up of your website and online presence, ultimately to bring you more organic search and referral traffic. You don’t pay for this traffic, but you’ll pay with time and money getting it right.
SEO should ALWAYS be an important element of your digital marketing strategy, but it’s often overlooked and underestimated by both business and web designers. (Side note: We build a basic SEO strategy into every web project we undertake).
The other problem with SEO is even if you are in the top 10 of organic Google results for your given search term(s), position #3 quickly becomes position #7/8, once you factor in ads and Google Maps listings.
Google Ads are a fast way of bringing in highly targeted traffic to your website. It is relatively fast to set up, and it is a much quicker way to generate traffic than SEO (generally). Both are ongoing investments, but you’ll only pay for Ads clicks when people are interested in your product.
With SEO you have to invest before you get the traffic to your website. With Google Ads, you generally only pay when people click through to your website.
Whenever we hear this opinion of Google/Bing Ads, the root cause is usually due to running campaigns incorrectly. Running a Google or Bing Ads campaign without knowing how to use the platform can be a recipe for burning money fast.
We’ve had clients who were running their own campaigns, but once we stepped in, we halved their monthly cost and increased the number of leads/calls they received each month. It is also not uncommon for us to take over a Google Ads account and get results that return many multiples of the monthly ad spend.
No … not at all. They need to be optimized DAILY (as we do for all our clients)! Your campaigns need to be managed and optimized regularly to make them work better over time and allow you to grow.
This involves creating new ad groups and keywords, pausing ads or keywords that aren’t working, adding negative or “bad” keywords making suggestions about new campaigns, checking if the budget is adequate and making suggestions around where to increase it, ensuring your ads aren’t being shown for irrelevant keywords and LOTS more!
Maybe, but probably not if they are reputable.
You may not be entering the keywords that have been set up in your account, you may find your budget isn’t enough to reach all searchers, or your "quality score" is lower due to your website, so your ad doesn’t get shown all the time. It may be the advertiser has excluded your internal computer address to improve campaign performance, or it's not targeting people in the location you are in.
Because we truly believe we can run an account better than ANY other marketing company!
Arrogance aside … Google / Bing Ads are a great revenue generator for marketing companies who like to do some setup work upfront but then do little else throughout the month. Meanwhile, they’re still collecting their management fee, and your results are suffering. We see it all the time!
Likewise, having Google or Bing reps run your ads is also a recipe for disaster. When you call them, you are unlikely going to get the same person, so they are not going to be familiar with your unique needs. Something else worth thinking about is that they’re working for the very same company that you’re paying the ad spend to, and their goal is, of course, to get you to spend as much as possible.
There are many ways agencies charge for ads management:
Personally, we find the percentage-of-spend model to be a tad unethical. It doesn’t really provide the agency much incentive to lower your ad spend. The more you spend with Google, the more the agency gets paid.
We charge a flat fee based on the complexity/size of the ad account(s) we are running. We also don’t charge a setup fee and don’t hold our clients to long-term contracts.
